Zero Tolerance policy

Our Commitment to a Safe Environment

At Bedminster Family Practice, we are committed to providing a safe, respectful and supportive environment for our patients and staff.

Our team has the right to work without fear of abuse, violence, harrassment or discriminiation.  We operate a zero tolerance approach to unacceptable behaviour.

 

Unacceptable Behaviour

The following behaviour will not be tolerated:

  • Physical violence or threats of violence 
  • Verbal abuse, shouting or swearing
  • Harrassment or intimidation 
  • Racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic or discriminatory remarks 
  • Offensive gestures or inappropriate language 
  • Damage to property 
  • Persistent unreasonable demands that disrupts services 

This applies whether behaviour occurs in person, over the telephone, in writing, or online (including social media). 

 

What May Happen

If a patient behaves in an unacceptable manner, we may: 

  • Issue a verbal or written warning
  • Ask the patient to leave the premises 
  • Contact the police if necessary
  • Remove the patient from our practice list 

Removal from the practice list will be carried out in accordance with NHS regulations.  In cases involving violence or serious threats, we may request immediate removal. 

 

Respect for Patients 

We understand that patients may feel unwell, anxious or frustrated at times.  Our staff will always aim to respond with patience and professionalism. 

We ask that patients treat our team and other patients with the same courtesy and respect. 

 

Reporting Concerns

If you feel unsafe or witness unacceptable behaviour within the practice, please inform a member of staff immediately.
